2020 Day Camp Leadership NEEDED NOW

Food Director and Assistant Food Director

We are in the immediate need of a Food Director and an Assistant Food Director for Day Camp 2020.  The two adults who fill these positions need to be at camp the entire week.

We have been very fortunate to have Dirk and Skittles the past 9 years to fill these positions, but they are both moving on to other phases of their lives. The position is very organized and Dirk will gladly help whoever takes over with detailed training.

Cooking outdoors is a wonderful part of camp and an experience the campers, Caddies, and adults all enjoy and talk about year after year. However, if we do not have 2 adults step forward this month, we will be unable to have outdoor cooking at our camp.  If we are unable to have outdoor cooking, the campers will need to bring all of their own food from home, and everyone will lose out on this wonderful experience.

PLEASE, step up and volunteer today.  PLEASE give back to Girl Scouts and all of the girls who attend camp.

We are an all volunteer camp and we know we cannot have camp without our wonderful volunteers.  PLEASE join our team today!  Thank you.

Events and Activities

Every year we work to provide a wide variety of camp activities that will enrich and enhance each campers experience.  These activities include: swimming, boating, archery, team building, hiking, cooking outdoors, educational lessons and lots of fun! See our activities page for more information.

Volunteer-Led Day Camps

Volunteer-led day camps are put together by Girl Scouts, for Girl  Scouts! These camps are hosted by River Valleys volunteers and are a  great way to learn new skills, meet other Girl Scouts in the area, and  most importantly—have a rip-roaring good time!

While hosted by specific service units, these camps are open to all Girl Scout sisters.

Philosophies and Guidelines

BLSU has an established volunteer-run day camp program with two main goals:

  1. To provide a safe, fun, friendly, and educational outdoor camp  experience; during which, girls have ample opportunities to learn about  themselves and the world around them.
  2. To offer leadership opportunities for young women to progress with  increasing responsibilities through Jr. Caddie, Caddie, Sr. Caddie, and young adult roles. For more information on Caddies see our Caddie page.
